Shop Once a Week – To Save Money On Groceries

The worst thing you can do that will increase your spending is to make several trips to the grocery store every week.  Think you are going to run in and get that bag of milk or loaf of bread without being tempted to buy anything else?  Save money on groceries stores try to prevent people from buying only one thing with the floor plan.  Take a look at your local store and notice where the bread and milk are located.  Most stores have these products for sale at the back of the store so that you will have to walk by everything else in the store to get to them.  This is how they tempt us in to buying more than we came for.  Going shopping only once a week cuts spontaneous spending a lot and this will increase you chance to save money on groceries.

Don’t Pay Full Price for Meat – To Save Money On Groceries
If you have a freezer there is no reason you should ever pay full price for your meat products.  The meat where I shop very often goes on sale for less than half price.  If you watch your flyers you will notice most of the sales run on a cycle.  If the pork chops are on sale this week, chances are they will be again within 6 to 8 weeks.  Buy enough to get you through to the next sale and you will save money on groceries.

Going to the grocery store without a list is the perfect way to overspend.  In the past I have grabbed things thinking I was running low only to find a full supply of it at home.  Write things on your list as you run out of them.  Always bring your list and a pen with you so you can cross things off the list.  If you forget something on the list by not crossing it off, you just increased the number of trips you have to make. This crucial for you to save money on groceries.

Meal Planning - To Save Money On Groceries

Planning your meals on a weekly basis helps to ensure you only buy what you need.  Planning ahead can also save you time in the kitchen.  If a recipe I am using calls for 1 pound of hamburger I always cook 2 pounds.  I drain the hamburger, let it cool and put it in a freezer bag to freeze it.  When I need hamburger for a recipe on a different day I already have some cooked. Big help that will save money on groceries.

Cook Your Own Meals - To Save Money On Groceries
